Amateur photography courses

The general course outlines are as follows -

Beginners SLR/DSLR course

  1. Getting control of your film SLR camera or your DSLR camera
  2. Learn how ISO, shutter speed and aperture choice will affect your images
  3. Basics of composition
  4. Lens choice
  5. Understanding and seeing the light
  6. Simple editing
  7. Personal or group tuition of no more than 5 students

Improvers SLR/DSLR course

  1. Indepth portfolio assessment on computer or print
  2. Composition tips
  3. Use of filters
  4. Natural lighting
  5. Classes of no more than 5 photographers, or on an individual basis

Basic Studio Portraiture 

A one day or two day course for improvers -

  1. Portraiture using one light source
  2. Using natural light
  3. Using one light and reflectors
  4. Classes of no more than 5 photographers, or on an individual basis

Travel Photography for Improvers

Desi has vast experience in running photographic groups abroad.  She ran travel tours for several years and also was a Tutor with Light and Land on multiple travel tours.  Tours have included Provence, Umbria, Santorini, Marrakech, San Francisco, Route ’66 USA, Kracow, Venice and Venice Carnival and travelling throughout Cuba.  This is a specialised course for individuals who want to improve photographic knowledge and technique.
